  • Amelia Earhart May Have Survived Crash-Landing, Newly Discovered Photo Suggests

If your interests exist somewhere between the intersection of history and unsolved mysteries, then the circulating picture suggesting Amelia Earhart may have survived her plane crash no doubt has you all kinds of shook.

The latest discovery is the subject of a History Channel documentary, Amelia Earhart: The Lost Evidence, that airs on Sunday, June 9, 2017. NBC News reports that independent analysts have told History the photo seems legitimate and untampered.

Earhart was last heard from during her attempt to become the first woman pilot to circle the globe, but vanished in 1937.

The photo - found in a previously classified National Archives file - suggests Earhart may have survived the crash landing that many assume killed her.

Computer glitch disrupts Apple, Google stock prices
The swings came on a day that the US stock market closed early at 1:00 pm, on the eve of the US Independence Day holiday. Stock prices of Amazon, Microsoft, according to the numbers on screen, had lost more than half of their values.

But now, Henry theorizes that the Japanese military could be behind the aviators' disappearance, claiming they "may have believed [the two] were American spies".

Japanese authorities told NBC News they have no record of Earhart being in their custody.

The photograph appears to show Earhart and her navigator Fred Noonan on a dock. Some point to similarities between the man's receding hairline and Noonan's actual appearance. "The nose is very prominent".

"It's my feeling that this is very convincing evidence that this is probably Noonan", he added.

Trump's fraud panel wants SC voter rolls
He says the information is often requested by political candidates and those creating ballot measures. Trump's national commission was formed to investigate allegations of USA election fraud.

It was taken on Jaluit Atoll in the Marshall Islands, about 2,500 miles from Hawaii.

The Marshall Islands/Saipan theory of Earhart's fate isn't a new one; it first surfaced back in the 1960s, and relies on accounts of Marshall Islanders who supposedly saw the Electra aircraft land and witnessed Earhart and Noonan in Japanese custody.

Henry and his team traveled to the now-crumbling, vine-choked prison cell in Saipan where they believe Earhart spent her final two years before dying in 1939, possibly from malaria or dysentery. The story was even documented in postage stamps issued in the 1980s.

For 80 years, the mystery of what in the hell happened to Amelia Earhart on her round-the-world journey has perplexed the public. According to People, this explanation has always been a conspiracy theory about Earhart's disappearance, but Henry says the photograph makes it more of a real possibility than ever before.
