The Pistons acquired Avery Bradley from the Boston Celtics for Marcus Morris and a 2019 second-round pick. The Utah Jazz would miss out on a previously discussed sign-and-trade deal for Crowder, per ESPN.com reporters Ramona Shelburne and Wojnarowski.

The 26-year-old Bradley, a two-time All-Defensive Team player, averaged 16.3 points and 6.1 rebounds and shot 39 percent from 3-point range last season. He is a restricted free agent right now, but there has been no real news regarding an offer sheet form another team as a bigger domino on that front (Otto Porter) is set to fall. The Celtics will save $3.5 million per season through this trade.

The trade allowed Boston to open up the necessary cap room to sign Gordon Hayward to a maximum contract while also allowing them to sign stashed forward Guerchon Yabusele. It also likely means Stanley Johnson - who last season played most of his minutes at shooting guard - will become Harris' primary backup at small forward, which could leave Kennard a more likely option behind Bradley at shooting guard. He went to the University of Texas at Austin and is best known for playing guard for the Boston Celtics.

The NBA has three forms of the mid-level exception: a non-taxpayer exception for teams under the salary cap, a taxpayer exception for teams over the salary cap, and a room exception for teams too close to the salary cap to use the non-taxpayer exception. Only two Celtics were rated better: Jae Crowder and Marcus Smart. "Avery Bradley's stats place him at 6'2" and 180 lbs, and he's been an active player for six years. The Celtics will have plenty of length versatility on both ends that will keep teams from exploiting Thomas as much as they did last season. Morris and Al Horford will provide great floor spacing that should help Isaiah Thomas and Gordon Hayward in scoring in the half court.

Morris will be joining his fourth team in six National Basketball Association seasons; he averaged 14.0 points and 4.6 rebounds last season.

Morris, who has two years and $10.4 million remaining on his current contract, averaged 14.1 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game in two seasons with the Pistons.

Lowry's contract is a reported three-year, $100 million deal, and Ibaka's is for three years and worth $65 million.

Bradley is now available for a contract extension, but that's unlikely, although the Pistons are interested in a long-term engagement.
