  • Russia 'may expel US diplomats' if Donald Trump does not return confiscated properties

The Izvestia newspaper reported a Foreign Ministry source claimed Russian Federation is considering the expulsion of around 30 us diplomats if the compounds are not returned.

Sources also revealed while speaking to Izvestia that Russian President Valdmir Putin and US President Donald Trump failed to reach an agreement regarding the dispute during a meeting on sidelines of G20 summit.

"This situation is just outrageous", Lavrov said, noting that the two diplomatic compounds confiscated by the Obama administration in December of 2016 have still not been released.

Though Putin declined to retaliate in December for Obama's response - which also included expelling 35 Russian diplomats the USA said were really spies - frustration has mounted in Moscow amid disappointment that Trump has not reversed those actions.

With relations at what the US calls a "low point", earlier this year the two countries set up an ongoing dialogue between Undersecretary of State Tom Shannon and Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov.

At the end of December 2016, after receiving intelligence information that Russian President Vladimir Putin meddled in the US elections through hacking attacks, then US President Barack Obama imposed sanctions against Russia's intelligence apparatus and expelled 35 diplomats.

Moscow has warned to take retaliatory measures against the United States if it fails to solve the issue of expulsion of thirty five Russian diplomats and seizure of its two diplomatic compounds previous year.

Putin did not expel U.S. diplomats at the time Obama did in hope of building a better relationship with his successor, Donald Trump.

"I don't mean to be cute in saying this, but we're used to certain officials from the Russian government making a lot of comments", spokeswoman Heather Nauert told a briefing when asked about the Russian remarks.

Moscow last month abruptly cancelled the last scheduled meeting between Shannon and Ryabkov after the U.S. Treasury announced new sanctions against Russian Federation over its aggression in Ukraine.

Last week, Russian President Vladimir Putin's spokesman Dmitry Peskov declared that Moscow's patience with Washington was running out, since the USA has been dragging its feet on Russia's confiscated diplomatic properties.

Two killed as Pakistan violates ceasefire again
Seven civilians were killed when Indian and Pakistani troops exchanged fire along the Line of Control in Poonch on Saturday. The DC also instructed revenue authorities to process the case for further relief in favour of deceased.

As a result, the United States authorities barred Russian access to the two Moscow-owned "recreational compounds". Putin in December ruled out kicking out American diplomats, a move interpreted as Moscow's intention to build ties with a new White House administration, over the alleged cyber hacking, dubbed Grizzly Steppe by U.S. officials. The Russian diplomats and their families were given 72 hours to leave. Her announcement came as a storm was breaking out over a meeting between Trump's son and a Kremlin-linked lawyer during the presidential campaign.
