Ann Coulter Rages At Delta For Booting Her From Reserved Airplane Seat

  • Ann Coulter calls Delta 'worst airline in America' after seating debacle

Conservative author and political commentator Ann Coulter took to Twitter Inc (NYSE: TWTR) last week to express her disappointment with Delta Air Lines, Inc.

Coulter had tweeted that Delta on Saturday, apparently following her flight to West Palm Beach from La Guardia airport in NY, was the worst airline in the U.S.

The Atlanta-based airline responded to the controversial media figure who was traveling on Delta Flight 2852 from NY to West Palm Beach, Florida, by chiding Coulter for her "derogatory and slanderous" posts about its customers and employees.

Coulter was on a flight to West Palm Beach, Florida, from New York's LaGuardia airport when she was reassigned from an aisle to a window seat on the same exit row, with extra leg room.

Coulter said she was upset about the seating change because she took the time to investigate the aircraft and choose her pre-booked seat.

On Sunday evening, Delta responded to Coulter on Twitter and said it will refund the $30 she had paid for the preferred seat.

According to a Delta spokesperson, there was no confusion during the flight as all the passengers had complied and the flight took off on time.

Coulter then began drudging up old, negative articles about Delta, which is when they made a decision to hit back in an epic way. A flight attendant had "snatch [ed] my ticket out of my hand", explaining only that an "emergency" necessitated the change, she said. To many on the social media sites today, this sounds like the not-so-friendly skies by the time Ann Coulter was through with her tweets. Then she insulted the passenger, calling her a "dachshund-legged woman". Her tirade was remarkable, if only for the shocking detail of her choosing an airline that recently banned a ranting pro-Trump passenger for life.

According to Coulter's tweet storm, Delta gave away an extended legroom economy class seat, for which she paid $30, to another passenger.

Delta representative Anthony Black told BuzzFeed News said Coulter did not say anything or complain about the de-seating the entire flight.

Ann Coulter wants everyone to know that we're STILL mad at airlines!

But some thought Coulter's response was warranted - and some admitted they had experienced similar incidents while flying with Delta.

While Coulter has yet to write a book about her flight, she had tweeted about it almost 50 times by Sunday morning.

On Monday morning, shortly after midnight, the airline hit back at Coulter for maintaining a barrage of comments that was described by Delta officials as "unacceptable and unnecessary".

In a separate statement, Delta added, "Each of our employees is charged with treating each other as well as our customers with dignity and respect".

In an ironic twist of fate, Coulter's ordeal came after she expressed her famously unusual opinion in April when Dr. David Dao of Kentucky was violently dragged off a United Airlines flight that was allegedly overbooked.

The statement by Delta went on to say that Coulter's behavior had been unacceptable and unnecessary.
