Phelps' shark wasn't real, viewers' rage is

  • Discovery Channel’s “Shark Week” will include requests to support Oceana an advocacy group focused on ocean conservation. The opening lineup July 23 includes “Phelps vs. Shark Great Gold vs. Great White,” with Olympian Michael Phelps testing

Michael Phelps is one of the greatest swimmers of all time.

Phelps, before the television special, stated that he wasn't in danger while racing the great white shark.

I hope people learned their lesson for when someone comes at them and says they're going to make a guy swim with a shark.

Michael Phelps race against a computer generated shark will go down as one of TV's most hyped flops. So, talk about false advertising.

"I am amazed at how large they are in real life".

Ford Mustang GT scores Drag Mode
Ford is certainly chasing after Chevy here, too; we measured a Camaro SS automatic hitting 60 miles per hour in 3.9 seconds. The 10-speed architecture features Ford-patented power-flow and Ford-patented direct-acting hydraulic controls.

He swam in its natural habitat off the coast of South Africa in 56-degree waters. Phelps, on the other hand, took 38.1 seconds to swim the same distance, and was even in a special wet suit and monofin that closed his feet together.

As the final details were prepared, ecologist Tristan Guttridge announced: "Clearly, we can't put Michael in one lane and a white shark on the far lane". She tweeted a picture of Phelps with his angry "game face" before the Brazil Olympics: "Realizing we gotta get through an hour of science for this actual race".

The shark finished in 36.1 seconds.

But, I doubt Phelps swam 100M without taking a single breath. "Great White", featured Guttridge and his team collecting data about the speed of great white sharks.

Instead, Phelps raced against a simulation of a shark, using a special swimsuit with a large fin to help him move through the water at superhuman speeds. You may remember "Eaten Alive" when a guy didn't actually get eaten by a snake as promised.

Kerala High Court rejects actor Dileep's bail plea
Dileep - like any accused under Indian law - must be presumed innocent unless the court returns a verdict of "guilty". With this, not only is Dileep looking at his two-week jail stay being prolonged, but also the loss of his stardom.

However, if Phelps can't beat a great white shark, a fish that can swim about 25 miles per hour (40 km/h), it makes little sense for him to race against the world's fastest shark, the mako, which can reach speeds of between 40 and 60 miles per hour (64 and 96 km/h), Nosal said.

The segment, which ran Sunday night, was by most accounts was a clever way to kick off Shark Week. The pitfalls of that set-up are obvious.

That's because great whites are really, really fast. While the show is great for hype, watching the show was rather unrealistic.

Phelps has set 39 world records and won 23 Olympic golds, but he still needed a helping hand to compete against the sharks.

This isn't the first time Discovery pissed off their viewers.

Westworld Season 2: First Trailer shows robots' retaliation!
Showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacas casually dropped the titles of the new eps on Twitter last month, and they sound creepy as HELL. Joining the cast for season 2 are Dacre Montgomery as Billy, Sadie Sink as Max and Paul Reiser as Dr.

Swimming in colder water increases a swimmer's risk of getting hypothermia, which can obviously slow a swimmer down.
