Toyota's new solid-state battery could make its way to cars by 2020

Electric cars have made resounding progress in recent years, but they have yet to break into the mainstream market. No one wants their vehicle to run out of juice far from a charging station, and then to wait half an hour for it to charge back up.
Toyota is working on an electric auto powered by "solid state" battery technology that can drastically improve driving range and shorten recharging times, according to a report in Japan.
A new type of battery being developed by Toyota might just be the solution to those problems. Toyota thinks the biggest of these hurdles is the current battery technology, and it intends to change that.
