Trial dates fixed for Jong-nam's accused murderers

Indonesian Siti Aisyah, 25, and Doan Thi Huong, 28, from Vietnam, allegedly assassinated the Kim Jong-nam at Kuala Lumpur International Airport on 13 February.

Shah Alam deputy police chief Superintendent Nek Zaidi Zakaria said police would be involved in an operation dubbed Op Prank. The women's lawyers had previously said they expected the pair to enter not guilty pleas on Friday.

But after the judge left the room, Aisyah was in tears as her lawyer debriefed her.

Here's a look at the significance of Kim's death and the two suspects.

North Korea has a history of ordering killings of people it views as threats to its regime.

The Trump administration has set a goal of economic growth of 3 percent. There's not a complete consensus on how best to do healthcare reform.

Kim Jong-nam, the eldest son of the late North Korean leader Kim Jong-il, had spoken out publicly against his family's dynastic control of the isolated, nuclear-armed nation.

Seoul accuses North Korea of being behind the murder of Kim Jong-Un's estranged relative, a charge Pyongyang denies. It has accused Malaysia of working with South Korea and other "hostile forces" in blaming Pyongyang.

Jong-nam, who used the name Kim Chol on his passport, died en route to Putrajaya Hospital. He told medical workers before he died that he had been attacked with a chemical spray that Malaysian officials later identified as the deadly VX nerve agent. In the past year alone Kim Jong Un has tested 28 missiles, more than his father and his grandfather during their entire reign combined.

The Kim Jong-nam murder trial will be heard at the High Court here for 23 days from Oct 2, with 30 to 40 witnesses expected to take the stand.

The two met at a pub in downtown Kuala Lumpur and over the course of several days, James had Siti rub oil or pepper sauce on a victim's face from forehead downwards which he would film on his phone, the lawyer said. "She knows she is innocent".

He also cited McKee's previous research, stating that she and her colleagues had diagnosed many players who died with the disease. The study is limited by factors such as its selection bias and lack of a control group, the researchers write.

USA and South Korean officials say the North Korean regime was behind the murder of Kim, who lived in exile in Macau and had criticized his family's dynastic rule of North Korea.

"One of the CCTV recordings showed Siti playing a prank".

Gooi said it may have been a political move to get the nine Malaysians home but it shouldn't have been done at the expense of Siti Aisyah.

One North Korean man was briefly held by Malaysian authorities in connection with the case, but was freed for lack of evidence.

Tensions eased when Malaysia agreed to the return of Kim body to Pyongyang. Aisyah's lawyers have called the case a "trial by ambush", claiming that the prosecution had withheld evidence that could strengthen their client's defense.
