Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari, has directed all the Service Chiefs to enhance their security operations in tackling insecurity across the country.

President Muhammadu Buhari has directed security agencies to safeguard the lives and property of all citizens and secure the nation's borders from aggressors, the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Gabriel Olonisakin has said.

"In his address to the nation, he talked about the unity of the nation which is non-negotiable".

Mr Yusuf Ali (SAN), who was of the view that the President should focus more on his campaign promises, said: "The President already has a mandate, he made promises during the campaign, if he fulfills all these campaign promises or majority, we will be okay". "We updated him on all security issues around the country, within the country and outside the country, where our troops are", he said.

Apart from receiving a briefing from the vice president who stood in for him when he was away, Buhari met with Chief of Staff Mallam Abba Kyari, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity Femi Adesina, and Senior Special Assistant on National Assembly Matters Alhaji Kawu Sumaila.

"We are going to enhance our operations in all the areas that we need to do that".

When asked what the President told them about the Indigenous People of Biafra's secret service, Olonishakin said, "All security threats were treated one after another, ranging from terrorism to kidnapping; and herdsmen/farmers clash to IPOB issue. Comments were made as to what to do regarding those issues". "Like I said, he (Buhari) has given the necessary directive which will be carried out by the military and security agencies", he said.

Those seen arriving for the meeting include the Minister of Defence, the Chief of Defence Staff, the Chief of Army Staff, the Chief of Naval Staff, the Inspector-General of Police, the Director-General of the Department of State Security and the Acting Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency.

President Buhari has an onerous duty to bring this madness to heel. Boko Haram and IPOB are not the same.
