Trump tweets: Mexico will pay for wall through 'reimbursement'

  • US President Donald Trump

He went on to repeat his promise to build "THE WALL" on the U.S. -Mexico border, though in a departure from his usual refrain that Mexico would pay for any such physical barrier, Trump claimed Mexico would pay "through reimbursement/other".

In public, Trump has stopped repeating his vow to make Mexico pay for the wall - which Republican lawmakers have estimated would require $12 billion to $15 billion - though his aides insist that's still the president's intention.

And yet, with all that sturm und drang in the background-unnecessary political drama that, ultimately, could damage the United States' financial stability-Trump declared that he and Nick Adams, the author of a 2016 book predicting his future success, are happy with how things are going.

"With Mexico being one of the highest crime Nations in the world, we must have THE WALL", the president tweeted. "It has to be a partnership, I have no doubt about that".

President Trump threatened to shut down the government if Congress's spending bill does not include funding for a wall on our southern border.

USA lawmakers return from their summer recess on September 5 needing to come up with a deal to fund the government and raise the federal debt ceiling.

Now, while this remains a centrepiece of his populist speeches, he accepts U.S. funds will pay for construction, and Mexico will be forced to re-pay in some way later on.

"We are in the NAFTA (worst trade deal ever made) renegotiation process with Mexico & Canada. Both being very hard, may have to terminate?" The White House previously has suggested that one possibility is a 20 percent tax on imports from Mexico. Congress must agree to an overall funding bill that Trump signs into law by September 30 or the government will shut down, according to CNBC.

'Restraint' Appears To Be Over As North Korea Launches Missile Test Again
South Korea has also been testing new missiles of its own, including the 800-kilometer (497 mile)-range Hyunmoo-2. The rival Koreas recently saw their always testy relationship get worse after Trump traded warlike threats.

Trump also asked his 36.8 million followers on Twitter if he should continue negotiating the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) with Mexico and Canada. "Republican will win S!", Trump also tweeted on Sunday.

At a rally in Phoenix on Tuesday, Trump drew the line in the sand Bannon had urged.

Mexico's foreign minister, Luis Videgaray, said Wednesday that NAFTA talks are continuing and if Trump really wanted to break up the pact, he would have done so already.

The second round of the NAFTA renegotiation is scheduled to begin Friday in Mexico City.
