  • IS Evacuation Deal Sparks Iraqi Outrage

Iraq has strongly denounced a deal allowing fighters from the Islamic State group to evacuate from a Syria-Lebanese frontier region to near the Iraqi border.

Col. Dillon told the AP that Wednesday's airstrike hit vehicles identified as belonging to ISIS that were traveling from ISIS-held territory toward the convoy.

The evacuation came as part of a controversial deal brokered by the Lebanese Hezbollah group to clear IS from an area along the Lebanon-Syria border. He said 11 Hezbollah fighters died in the weeklong operation on the Syrian side of the border.

Hundreds of jihadists started leaving the area on Monday, heading by bus for Syria's eastern province of Deir Ezzor, which borders Iraq and is the only Syrian province still under I.S. control. We, neither the Lebanese army, nor the Syrian army, agreed to a ceasefire.

Texas Republicans have a new perspective on federal disaster aid
Another issue lawmakers face is emergency aid to address damage that isn't insured, a process that has been controversial on Capitol Hill in recent years.

Hezbollah is a significant player in Lebanon with government ministers and lawmakers, while the role of its fighters also has been growing in Syria.

Save the Children on August 28 also said a bombing campaign has increased the "nightmares" for young people in the self-declared IS capital, which is under siege by USA -backed Syrian Arab and Kurdish fighters.

The United Nations adviser on the prevention of genocide today expressed deep concern at the deteriorating situation of up to 25,000 civilians trapped in Syria's Raqqa, noting that civilians are used as human shields in this de facto capital of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL/Da'esh) terrorist group under intense bombardment.

Central Command said that the U.S. had bombed a bridge in Syria to block the convoy's route to Deir Ezzor.

Liverpool make bid to Monaco for Thomas Lemar
The promising 21-year-old scored 12 goals in 39 appearances last season and has three years left on his Monaco contract. It's not all bad news for Liverpool, however, as they confirmed the signing of RB Leipzig's Naby Keita on Monday night.

An estimated 20,000 people - about half of them children - are trapped in the city behind IS lines as the extremists attempt to hold out in the face of the US -backed coalition offensive.

"Therefore, those who are crying over ISIS' defeat in Lebanon and Iraq are Netanyahu and senior Israeli officials".

The main security body of the Iraqi Kurdistan region also condemned the deal, questioning the motivation of the Syrian regime and its key Lebanese ally for dealing with the jihadi group responsible for capturing swathes of Syrian and Iraqi territory since 2014 and the murder of thousands.

Army commander Gen. Joseph Aoun, who is not related to the president, told reporters Wednesday that as the offensive against IS was underway, the Lebanese mediator called him to say that the extremists accepted a cease-fire in return for information about the fate of the soldiers. "Either to go on with the battle and not know the fate of the soldiers, or give in and know the fate of the soldiers", he said. Lebanese officials say they are nearly sure the remains are of the soldiers.

Seoul: North Korea fires several projectiles to sea
An earlier assessment by PACOM had said that two missiles failed in flight. "I think it's going to take some time to tell". Kim said he would consider sending missiles into the waters off the coast of Guam in "mid-August".

The Syrian army and its allies are advancing eastwards through central Syria along several fronts in their own offensive towards Deir al-Zor, where a government enclave has been besieged by Islamic State for years.
