Lopez doubles up at the Vuelta a España, Froome extends lead

Chris Froome edged closer to winning the Vuelta a Espana as he increased his overall advantage over Vincenzo Nibali to 61 seconds after surviving another punishing mountain stage on Sunday.

"As soon as the breakaway went the guys went up to the front and they basically controlled the race, nearly from the start to finish, so hats off to them".

"I'm delighted to have won in Calar Alto and here", said Lopez.

"Today wasn't easy for our team, we had to ride nearly 150kilometres at the front", she continued.

Froome finished fifth, 47 seconds back, but with the same time as title rival Esteban Chaves and six seconds ahead of 2010 Vuelta victor Vincenzo Nibali, who now trails the Team Sky rider by one minute and one second ahead of Monday's final rest day.
