Ryan International murder case: Haryana CM hands over probe to CBI

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Friday, after meeting the mother of the seven-year-old victim, announced that the state government was going to take over the Gurugram school management.

Varun Thakur, father of Pradyuman while reacting to the news of his son's murder case being handed over to the CBI said, "Glad that the sensitivity this case deserved has been shown". Khattar had visited their residence before addressing the media. The Haryana CM in another statement said, "Have directed for a CBI probe & for three months our Dy Comm will look after the school's functioning".

The Gurugram Police has so far arrested bus driver Ashok Kumar, presenting him as the main accused in the case.

Gurugram Police Commissioner Sandeep Khirwar, while speaking to the press, said cross-questioning of school staff and office-bearers would be conducted to verify the claims made by them and bring out facts in the case.

Two officials of Haryana Police have also questioned the management of Ryan International School's Kandivali branch in Mumbai over the murder.

There would be proper attendance, reporting of absentees and compulsory ID cards for staff and students while special attention would be paid to accident and abuse-prone areas inside schools, he said.

He said that the schools should have adequate surveillance by functional CCTV cameras, besides ensuring safe neighbouring premises.
