Facing fire from Congress for asking Rahul Gandhi to postpone his constituency tour, Amethi administration on Monday said it had no problem with the Congress vice-president visiting the district as planned. Hence, there will be a great inconvenience in maintaining peace. It also read that since the Durga Puja/Dussehra and Muharram will culminate at several places on Oct 5, therefore the administration will not be able to provide adequate security during Rahul's scheduled visit from October 4 to October 6 may. Congress claimed vindication after Amethi administration struck an accommodative stance. Congress sources said Shah's visit has been planned as a counter to Rahul's September 25-27 campaign in poll-bound Gujarat which rattled the saffron party.

The letter was signed by District Magistrate Yogesh Kumar and Superintendent of Police Poonam.

Reacting sharply to the letter, senior Uttar Pradesh Congress leader Akhilesh Singh accused the Yogi Adityanath-led BJP government in the state of "using tactics" to stop Mr Gandhi from visiting his Lok Sabha constituency.

Many in the Congress believe that Rahul's recent visit to the United States where he stridently took on Modi and the BJP on a range of issues, has been well received by leaders within the party, sympathizers on the grassroots and that section of the Indian electorate that has been hit the hardest by issues like demonetisation, economic downturn, lack of jobs and the GST rollout - all of which the Congress vice president red-flagged. "This scares the BJP", he said.

Undefeated lightweights Khabib Nurmagomedov and Justin Gaethje were also among potential opponents mentioned by McGregor. McGregor was stopped in the 10th round by Mayweather but certainly didn't disgrace himself.

This is the first visit to Amethi by Rahul Gandhi since February 19 when he had addressed an election rally in his constituency.
