Actor Dileep gets conditional bail after 85 days, asked to surrender passport

From marrying actress Manju Warrier, and divorcing her later to entering wedlock with actress Kavya Madhavan, his journey so far has been quite cinematic. Meanwhile, his fans had arranged a huge welcome for the actor both in front of the jail and outside his house.

Malayalam superstar Dileep, arrested for alleged involvement in the conspiracy behind the kidnapping of an actress, was on Tuesday granted bail by the Kerala High Court.

The court observed that in the light of substantial completion of the investigation and collection of materials that the prosecution proposed to rely on, there was a definite change of circumstances from the ones that existed at the time of consideration of his previous bail applications.

The actor, who landed in police custody on July 10, came out of the jail around 5.15 p.m. amidst much fanfare and celebrations by the jubilant supporters.

The legal battle ever since his arrest three months back was not very easy for him, just as his days in jail.

After his arrest, Dileep's bail petition was rejected four times citing his court in the industry which he may use to influence the investigation.

On July 11, Dileep was expelled from the primary membership of Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) after being arrested. Many members of the Malayalam film fraternity expressed happiness at the actor being granted bail.

Now, everyone is eagerly waiting to know Dileep's next step. When the "Ramaleela" director Arun Gopi met the actor in jail and informed the good news, the actor reportedly broke down with emotion, according to Manorama News report and interview with the director Arun Gopi. Police had a tough time controlling the crowd which had thronged the premises since afternoon soon after hearing about the high court granting him bail.
