A music festival featuring Chance The Rapper may have been the Las Vegas gunman's original target, according to the website The Daily Beast.

As The Daily Beast reports, police are now investigating leads which indicate that the shooter may have initially planned to attack a larger music festival, which was held a week earlier.

That's according to a source quoted by U.S. publication The Daily Beast, who says he rented condos above the Life Is Beautiful festival in downtown Las Vegas the previous weekend. The festival was headlined by popular talents like Chance the Rapper, Lorde and Wiz Khalifa, and drew an estimated 50,000 fans each day.

The Daily Beast says they visited the Ogden, the 21 story luxury condominium tower that Paddock apparently rented during the festival.

The Ogden's owners didn't confirm nor deny the allegations to The Daily Beast, as "this is an on going investigation".
