  • Jaish-e-Mohammad fidayeen storm BSF camp near Srinagar Airport; 2 attackers killed

A day after Gandhi Jayanti was observed across India, three fidayeen of the Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) militant outfit's "Afzal Guru Squad" attacked a Border Security Force (BSF) camp close to the Srinagar airport.

"The fidayeens are determined". They will always manage to come but it is the response which is important.

The BSF ASI was identified as BK Yadav.

A BSF Jawan was allegedly killed and two security personnel were reported injured after terrorists attacked a camp near the Srinagar airport in the wee hours of Tuesday morning.

The two were charged along with four North Korean men under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which carries the death penalty. He died on the way to Putrajaya Hospital from klia2, sparking a diplomatic row between Putrajaya and Pyongyang.

At 3:45am, fidayeen attackers entered the BSF camp located near the Srinagar global airport, following which there was heavy exchange of gunfire.

The terrorists, according to BSF officials are holed up inside the building campus of the 182nd Battalion camp.

Considering the vastness of the BSF camp in Srinagar, senior officers made a decision to launch an operation that included men from the BSF, the CRPF and the J&K Police. J&K DGP S P Vaid said the forces are alert to avert any attempt by the surviving terrorists to disrupt peace in the valley. "By comparison, you can say the BSF has acquitted itself very well and I am proud of the boys", Sharma added.

Three militants were also killed in the gunbattle that raged near the airport, forcing brief suspension of air traffic and closure of schools in the vicinity. "As long as Pakistan is our neighbour, such attacks will take place", he said addressing a press conference in the aftermath of the sanitising operations at the camp. Attack was repulsed very effectively. By that time the Rashtriya Rifles, SOG (Special Operations Group) and CRPF also joined the operation. After a 15-hour-long gun battle inside DPL Pulwama at least 10 were killed, including four police personnel, four paramilitary personnel and two militants.

Gosling delivers another powerful performance by doing something that he's quickly become the master of: minimalist acting. Geoffrey Macnab of The Independent agrees, and says that the cinematography and visual effects make it a "tour de force".

Srinagar airport is the only civilian airport in the region, besides this, the technical airport used by armed forces and VIPs is also in the vicinity.

Sharma said they receive information about possible fidayeen attacks on security force camps from intelligence agencies.

For decades rebel groups have fought Indian soldiers deployed in the territory, demanding independence or a merger of the former Himalayan kingdom with Pakistan.
