The United Nations and several humanitarian groups this week warned that millions could die in Yemen from starvation if the blockade, which includes relief aid, was not lifted.

The move came after Saudi Arabia intercepted a missile fired towards Riyadh, which it blamed on Tehran.

Despite the reopening of Wadea, however, and the allowing of limited ships into southern Aden port, United Nations officials say that the Saudi-led coalition is still blocking all of their aid deliveries into the country, continuing the siege.

Yemen lies beside the southern mouth of the Red Sea, one of the most important trade routes in the world for oil tankers, which pass near Yemen's shores while heading from the Middle East through the Suez Canal to Europe.

According to defenseworld.net, the announcement comes after Saudi air defense forces reported that they had intercepted a ballistic missile in midair that was sacked from Yemen over northern Riyadh.

Yemen's defenseless people have been under massive attacks by the Saudi-led coalition for more than two and half years but Riyadh has reached none of its objectives in Yemen so far.

Iran denies it supplies arms to the Houthis but has said the missile was a reaction to Saudi "aggression".

The coalition opened a land border crossing on Thursday between Saudi Arabia and territory held by the Saudi-backed government, and the port at Aden was reopened on Wednesday.
