  • Literary George Clooney 56 is developing a limited series based off the famous novel Catch-22

The 1961 satirical novel by Joseph Heller will be adapted by writers Luke Davies (Lion) and David Michôd (War Machine) into a six-part television series.

Based off of Heller's own experiences in World War II, the story follows the attempts of disillusioned bomber pilot Captain John Yossarian as he seeks to escape the madness and absurdity of war, only to be blocked at every turn by red tape and opportunistic superiors. Clooney's producing partner Grant Heslov will also direct a portion of the series. He has signed on to both star in and direct a "Catch-22" adaptation, Deadline reports.

Yossarian's only way to avoid the missions is to declare insanity, but the only way to prove insanity is a willingness to embark on unsafe missions, thus creating the novel's absurd Catch-22. He and Heslov are repped by CAA. So far, it has not been revealed when or how the Paramount TV and Anonymous Content project will air once it is ready.
