Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir told an Arab League meeting in Cairo that his country would "not stand handcuffed" in the face of what he called "Iranian aggressions".

"The silence on these brutal attacks of Iran through its agents in the region will not make any capital of an Arab country safe from these ballistic missiles", he said.

The AL chief said the Iraqi position regarding the resolution would be received within days.

The Arab League meeting comes as tensions soar between regional arch-rivals Saudi Arabia and Iran, including over League member Lebanon.

Pro-Iranian forces in Syria

Saudi Arabia maintains that any relations with Israel hinge on Israeli withdrawal from Arab lands captured in the 1967 Middle East war.

Saudi Arabia urged fellow Arab League nations to find a "non-compromise" solution to deal with "Iran's aggression" and "disregard for worldwide law" during a specially-summoned foreign ministers' meeting in the Egyptian capital, Cairo.

While not mentioning Iran by name, he said Lebanon condemned all attacks against Arab nations, but blamed exploitable inter-Arab divisions that allowed worldwide and regional powers to promote their interests.

Saudi Arabia has ratcheted up pressure on Iran, accusing Tehran of trying to expand its influence in Arab countries, often through proxies including the Lebanese Shi'ite Hezbollah group. "Is under the total control of this terrorist party", Sheikh Khalid said.

"Iran's biggest arm in the region at the moment is the terrorist Hezbollah arm", he said.

Also in September, Israel Radio reported that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman had secretly met officials in Israel that month, drawing an official denial from Riyadh.

Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates supported the Saudi request for the extraordinary meeting, which was also approved by Djibouti, the current chair of the pan-Arab bloc, according to a memorandum seen by AFP.

"We are ready to exchange experiences with Saudi Arabia and other moderate Arab countries and exchange intelligence to confront Iran", Eisenkot said in a rare interview with the London-based Saudi-owned newspaper, adding that "there are many shared interests between us and Saudi Arabia".

"A decision was taken that Lebanon would be presented by Antoine Azzam, the permanent representative to the Arab League", a source from the ministry told Reuters.

For more than a decade, Lebanon's political class has been largely split between Iran-backed Hezbollah and its allies, and a Saudi-supported coalition led by Hariri.

Riyadh has been backing military forces opposed to President Bashar Assad, while Iran has supported Assad's regime.
