Stanton reps also to meet with Cardinals

Approve a deal the Dodgers liked - for the goal of offloading Stanton's remaining $295 million contract (or as much of it as a team will accept) - or keep Stanton (and his mega contract) on the books.

One team that is showing decreased interest in Stanton is the Boston Red Sox, as SiriusXM's Craig Mish reports they have chose to end their pursuit of him.

Meantime, the rival Giants are hoping Stanton determines San Francisco would suit him as a runner-up choice.

Ole Miss to receive NCAA ruling Friday
Ole Miss went 6-6 this year and beat Mississippi State 31-28 in the Egg Bowl on Thanksgiving night. Once the appeals committee acknowledges the request, the university has 30 days to file the appeal.

In recent days, Stanton or his representatives have met with both the Cardinals and the Giants, suggesting he's better positioned than not in order to make a decision. If the meetings had occurred while talks between the teams were still fluid, the Marlins would've risked losing leverage if Stanton agreed to be dealt to one team and not the other.

At the very least the ball is in Stanton's court, it seems.

The Giants have many holes to fill including the outfield, third base and the bullpen as they try to bounce back from an embarrassing 98-loss season. The Dodgers have not been beating down the door for Stanton.

Memes Mock Melania Trump's White House Christmas Decorations
The nearly 100-year-old tradition dates back to the 30th president of the U.S., President Calvin Coolidge, in 1923. Among the new touches this year: On the outside, wreaths topped with red bows adorn every White House window.

The Giants have said they're open to exceeding the luxury-tax threshold a fourth straight year, which would come with severe penalties, but the Dodgers don't appear so open to the idea and already have plenty of capable outfielders.

The hot stove season in Major League Baseball is heating up, and with the winter meetings a week away Giancarlo Stanton might soon be an ex-member of the Miami Marlins. He wants to hear what teams have to say as he could be on the move from the cost-cutting Marlins.
