  • Woods dropped another shot at the 10th before getting back on track

Tiger Woods' hopes of a fairytale return faded on Saturday after an error-strewn round saw him tumble down the leaderboard at the Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas.

Fowler was in a class of his own in a scintillating exhibition, birdying the first seven holes and surging into a two-shot lead by going out in 28.

After solid displays on his opening two rounds had left him at seven under par for the tournament, the former world number one suffered a torrid third round with a three-over-par 75.

He reeled off three more birdies after a double bogey at 10, but dropped another shot at 17 following an errant tee shot and ended a promising return in disappointing fashion with a three-putt bogey at the last. I showed some good signs.

The two groups have been fighting the government of current President Abedrabbo Mansour Hadi, who is backed by the Saudi-led coalition, for almost three years.

Said Woods, "I am very happy, very happy that I've hit the ball as well as I have, the feel of my putter, overall shaping of shots and just trying to put together a round".

The latter was especially important to the 41-year-old who once dominated the sport.

He also spoke positively about the future. "This is the way I've been playing at home, and when I came out here and played, I was playing very similar to this".

"Anything that I did right ended up in a bad spot, and then anything I did wrong it was really bad", Woods said.

He and his team will now sit down to determine how best to build his 2018 schedule for major championships.

"I haven't had a chance yet to see Tiger play and can only go by the results".

He definitely had the Albany course figured over the first nine holes on Sunday. "It took me 14 holes to make a birdie". But the 79 times PGA Tour victor struck back with birdies at 11, 14 and 15 before bogeys at 17 and 18.

"You've got to keep fighting, and that's one of things I've always done in my entire career is just keep fighting and try to post the best number I possibly could", Woods added.
