While that is incredibly hard to pull off, he may have an opportunity to join in as one of the 32 team owners now that Jerry Richardson is selling the Carolina Panthers.

Panthers coach Ron Rivera, according to the team's website, said that the investigation would need to take its course.

"I believe that it is time to turn the franchise over to new ownership".

The NFL said through a spokesman that it will conduct the investigation and expects to retain outside counsel, but declined further comment.

He added that the sale of the Panthers, who joined the National Football League in 1995, would not begin until the last game of the season had been played.

Wilks denied ever experiencing, or hearing of, any racial slurs used by Richardson.

Diddy clearly wanted to get his name out there as soon as possible, seeing as how current Panthers owner Jerry Richardson only announced his plans to sell the franchise earlier in the day.

While declining to comment on the nature of the allegations, the franchise said it was "committed to ensuring a safe, comfortable and diverse work environment where all individuals, regardless of sex, race, colour, religion, gender, or sexual identity or orientation, are treated fairly and equally".

Richardson, a former receiver for the Baltimore Colts, received a heart transplant in 2009 that saved his life.

Curry grew up in Charlotte and loves the Panthers, so this would be a big deal for him.

In an extreme case of misconduct, the National Football League could move to suspend or terminate Richardson's ownership in the Panthers.

If team officials are implicated as facilitating or failing to stop Richardson's alleged misconduct, Goodell could punish those officials.

In September, Panthers players met with Richardson, reportedly because they were wary that they could be punished by the team if they spoke out on social issues. At least four former Carolina Panthers employees have allegedly been paid settlements in relation to Richardson's misconduct, SI reported.
