Kentucky health officials report "widespread" flu for the first time this flu season.

So far this season, the Arizona Department of Health Services has seen 2,976 laboratory-confirmed cases of influenza across the state, 1,188 cases being confirmed in the last week alone.

The flu season lasts from October through May but this year it will be longer because of the early start in flu activity.
