But other than legal threats, Pai has also received physical threats.

The Federal Communications Commission chairman was to debate his decision to overturn net neutrality rules.

It's easy to assume that Pai is avoiding potential contentious exchanges with members of the tech media who will be on hand for the event.

Officials say to avoid romaine lettuce amid E. coli concerns
Public Health Agency of Canada is urging five eastern provinces to use caution when eating romaine lettuce. Seventeen illnesses have been reported in 13 states, including one case in Pennsylvania, the CDC said.

FEDERAL COMMUNICATIONS COMMISSION (FCC) chairman Ajit Pai has cancelled a planned appearance at CES following death threats against himself and his family. Shapiro has voiced his support for Pai's controversial reversal of net neutrality legislation as well. "We look forward to our next opportunity to host a technology policy discussion with him before a public audience".

The Washington Examiner reported it was the second time in weeks that Pai had to deal with personal security issues. Incidentally, it's become something of a tradition in recent years for the FCC chairman to make an appearance at CES, a fact which makes Pai's abrupt cancellation all the more curious.

Now, Pai and his office, according to Recode, apparently feel he should abandon his plans to attend CES, the global Consumer Electronics Show, due to violent threats. Under the rules, the FCC was given the authority to regulate Internet service providers (ISPs) such as AT&T, Comcast and Verizon - similar to utilities - subjecting the entities to more government oversight.

Mariah Carey Dick Clark Productions Says ... Give Her The Chair!!
A tweet from the show declared the performance a "take two" from Carey, and she clearly aced it after a shaky first effort. On top of that, only a true diva would withstand below freezing temperatures just to rock a hot, sparkly outfit.

Pai has come under heavy criticism by net neutrality supporters after the agency voted in December to dismantle rules passed by the Obama administration. During Pai's remarks, the FCC chambers were abruptly evacuated to investigate a security threat.

Though the FCC hasn't made a comment on the final order, a spokesperson told arstechnica.com that the commission was planning to release the order as soon as possible.

FTC Commissioner Terrell McSweeny, who has voiced opposition to repealing net neutrality, tweeted Thursday that it was "unacceptable" to threaten a public servant due to their views.
