  • Daesh claims Kabul attack that killed 15 people

Attaullah Khogyani, spokesman for the governor of eastern Nangarhar province, told Anadolu Agency that the attack took place on the outskirts of Jalalabad city in Muqam Khan neighborhood, where the locals had gathered for the funeral prayers of a district governor in the afternoon.

The spokesman cautioned that the toll could rise.

No one has so far claimed responsibility for the bombing but both Taliban insurgents and the Islamic State group's affiliate in Afghanistan have targeted the country's security forces in the past.

FA question Arsenal boss Wenger about Chelsea comments
I knew before the game that the last 20 minutes would be hard for us because we had a big disadvantage with the schedule. Wenger was hit with an FA charge for his conduct towards referee Mike Dean after the Chambers penalty incident.

President Ashraf Ghani late on January 4 called the attack "inhumane" and against the tenets of Islam.

The deadly attack comes a week after 41 people were killed and 84 others injured in an IS attack that targeted Shiites in Kabul.

But experts say IS operates several cells in the city, enabling the group to plan and carry out attacks under the noses of Afghan security and intelligence agencies.

Earlier, 11 dead and about 25 wounded were reported.

The UN Security Council also condemned "the heinous and cowardly" terrorist attack and underlined the need to bring "perpetrators, organisers, financiers and sponsors of these reprehensible acts of terrorism to justice".

In December alone, IS claimed three attacks that killed dozens of civilians.

China Resists US Efforts to Blacklist Ships Through UN
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un's nuclear program has led to United Nations sanctions including ones on oil. China has denied that it's selling oil to North Korea in defiance of United Nations regulations.

US troops have remained in the country, although at greatly reduced numbers, helping to train and support Afghan forces in their battles against the militant groups.
