Publicist Lindsey Holmes said O'Riordan died suddenly while in the United Kingdom capital where she was recording. "She was 46 years old", her PR agency said Monday in a statement, which was later parroted by the band.

The singer died yesterday morning in London, with her bandmates Noel Hogan, Mike Hogan and Fergal Lawler leading the tributes, calling her an "extraordinary talent". "The world has lost a true artist today", they said.

The singer who shot to fame and became a sensation across the world for songs like Linger, Dreams, etc, leaves behind devastated band members, three children who were her life, and a shocked family.

After news broke of The Cranberries singer Dolores O'Riordan's death, sales and streams of the band's catalogue have skyrocketed on Spotify, Amazon, and iTunes. Her devastated family has requested privacy at this time.

"A woman in her mid-40s was pronounced dead at the scene", the spokesperson said. The death is "not being treated as suspicious", the statement said, and the case has been given to the coroner's office.

Critics called O'Riordan out for singing in her Limerick accent (which can be strong and hard for foreigners to understand), but she stuck with it ... and it paid off big time!

According to the managing director for Eleven Seven International, O'Riordan was looking forward to seeing him in the studio. The news came as a shock to her close personal friends and relatives, since her passing was so sudden.

"She had totally original sound that when you heard it, instantaneously, you knew who it was", he said. I mean, they did have an ear for a catchy hook for sure, but I think the sweet tone of her voice amidst often heavier instrumental elements made for a contrast that was as interesting as it was unexpected.
