Shapiro and the coalition filed a petition for review in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, formally commencing the lawsuit against the FCC and the federal government.

According to Wired Magazine, New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman announced a multi-state lawsuit against the FCC to keep net neutrality.

The FCC's decision repealed Obama-era rules that prohibited internet service providers from treating websites differently based on their content.

NY attorney general Eric Schneiderman, who is leading the multi-state lawsuit, said it is illegal for the FCC to make "arbitrary and capricious" changes to policies like net neutrality.

Kentucky is one of 22 states suing the Federal Communications Commission over its planned rollback of net neutrality changes.

For those who are unclear on the issues of net neutrality, Republican FCC Chairman Ajit Pai led a vote back in December to dismantle the rules of net neutrality. All Senate Democrats, and Sen.

NEW YORK (AP) - The expected wave of litigation against the Federal Communications Commission's repeal of net-neutrality rules has begun. "It relies on the core principle of net neutrality (that all internet traffic be treated equally) to exist", said Denelle Dixon, chief business and legal officer at Mozilla, in a blog post. "The FCC's decision to vote on this matter during an ongoing investigation sends a bad message about their agenda".

But that effort to enact a congressional resolution of disapproval faces an uphill battle in the Republican-controlled House and a near-certain veto by President Trump.

Virginia is just the next state to have a bill in the legislature forwarded regarding net neutrality laws.

In Iowa, Kentucky, Mississippi and North Carolina, both Senators are Republican, though the Attorney General has chose to side with the coalition.

On Monday, Democrats announced all 49 of their members and one Republican, Susan Collins of ME, will vote on a bill that uses the Congressional Review Act to reinstate the neutrality regulation. While Pai argued repeatedly that the move would give internet service providers the ability to create fast lanes for telemedicine, not many are convinced.

Democrats have made a decision to attempt to use the Congressional Review Act (CRA) to nullify the repeal of net neutrality, and they are surprisingly close to making it through the Senate.
