The so-called Women's March on Washington was one of numerous such protest rallies waged on Saturday in hundreds of cities across the U.S. as protesters gathered on the steps of the iconic Lincoln Memorial and stood along the lengthy Reflecting Pool, also urging more women to compete for public office. The Women's March drew half a million people to Washington, DC in 2017 and millions more to satellite marches in hundreds of cities around the country, and provided a springboard to a year full of activism and resistance.

At Los Angeles City Hall, many marchers wore pink hats and carried signs with slogans such as: "Real news, fake president". But marches also were taking place in New York; Philadelphia; Los Angeles; Chicago; Denver, Colorado; Charlotte, North Carolina; and Palm Beach, Florida, where the president has a vacation home.
