They point to the anti-Trump text messages of a senior FBI investigator whom Mueller removed from the Russian Federation unit. The committee meets with Mueller to discuss the firing of former FBI Director James Comey.

But push will come to shove if and when Mueller is either fired or he issues a report to Congress that requires Congress to do something.

Mueller has a sizeable budget and an open-ended term.

Trump has repeatedly denied rumors that he meant to fire Mueller.

An obstruction case would be harder to prosecute without evidence of an underlying crime, such as colluding with a foreign government to tip an election. He has criticized the Attorney General Jeff Sessions and also tried to remove him. Trump reversed course only after McGahn said he would quit before he carried out the president's wishes. Trump on Friday dismissed the report as "fake news".

Wozniacki claims maiden slam in Melbourne
Wozniacki was the top seed that year having risen to number one in the world in 2010 and she said the defeat was crushing. But I think I did pretty well with all the things that were going on. "I'm sure, eventually, it will go well for them".

Reasons apparently included: Mueller had once disputed fees at a Trump golf club; he once worked at a law firm that represents Trump's son-in-law; and he had interviewed - with Trump - to replace Comey at the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

The President also said Mr Mueller could not be impartial because he had most recently worked for a law firm that previously represented the President's son-in-law, Jared Kushner. However, White House lawyer Don McGahn wouldn't give the directive to the Justice Department because he disagreed with Trump's reasoning, according to one person familiar with the matter.

"It would be good to have legislation protecting all special counsels", Graham said, adding that he would be happy such a bill "tomorrow".

Trump has repeatedly insisted that there was no collusion between his campaign and Moscow.

Special counsel Robert Mueller (L) arrives at the U.S. Capitol for closed meeting with members of the Senate Judiciary Committee June 21, 2017 in Washington, DC. "Based on his statements from the last couple weeks, he and his lawyers appear to be cooperating with Mueller". The former Alabama senator endorsed Trump in February 2016 and was a key surrogate during the campaign.

Officials initially planned to charge him with attempted murder, but determined they would have more success with assault charges. The mother of Bailey Nicole Holt, who died at the scene, said she got a call from her daughter's phone but couldn't hear her.

With the beginning of Mueller's investigation, McGahn became a figure in the firing of former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn and FBI Director James Comey.

When it comes to the Russian Federation scandal, and particularly the question of obstruction of justice, he may be undone by his own big mouth. "My question to President Trump: 'What are you so afraid of?'"

Senator Chuck Schumer of NY, the top Democrat in the Senate, said the report detailing an effort by Trump to fire Mueller in June demonstrated the urgency for Congress to act.

In the Mueller instance, as in other potential firing cases, senior staff acknowledged the president with nods, but did not take action, in hopes Mr. Trump would simmer down or forget, sources tell Garrett.

Trump said on Wednesday he would be willing to be interviewed under oath by Mueller, and according to sources with knowledge of the investigation, Trump's attorneys have been talking to Mueller's team about an interview.
