According to eyewitnesses, Rajesh Maru, who worked as a salesman, entered the MRI room carrying an oxygen cylinder which was helping his relative breathe.
The awful incident occurred on Saturday evening in a hospital in central Mumbai when Rajesh Maru, 32, was tending to an elderly relative.
In some cases, people with implants or embedded metal can not safely get an MRI and must use a different scanning technology instead.
Mumbai police have booked three hospital employees and arrested a doctor and a ward boy for culpable homicide not amounting to murder. This caused Maru to be thrust towards it, causing the oxygen tank to rupture and leak. Preliminary police reports suggested that Maru had died from inhaling liquid oxygen that leaked from the cylinder.

The incident occurred on Saturday night at the Indian financial capital's Nair Hospital. The doctor as well as the technician didn't say anything.
The metal in the cylinder reacted with the machine's storing magnetic fields, causing it to hoover the man up with massive force.
Rajesh was rapidly pulled into the MRI machine and it's understood that at some point the tank ruptured - spilling liquid oxygen everywhere.
The one thing that you need to know about an MRI machine is that no metal is allowed inside the room in which it's housed, as it will get sucked into the machine by the powerful magnets.
He said the wardboy asked the family members to remove all metallic objects, including mobile phone handsets, before entering the room, which they did. As Laxmi was supposed to undergo an MRI scan on Saturday morning, MICU ward boy Vithal Chavan took Laxmi along with her family to the Hospital's MRI section. He also mentioned that Maru was rushed to the emergency ward as he was bleeding copiously, but he died there.
The body of the victim has been sent for post-mortem to JJ Hospital, while the police are probing the case on the basis of the CCTV footage of the incident handed over to them.
The machine's magnetic field got activated pulling both the man and the cylinder with great force.
