  • Hillary Clinton reportedly refused to fire faith adviser accused of sexual harassment in 2008

Solis Doyle told CNN on Monday that she was "disappointed" by Clinton's response to a Friday New York Times report that exposed the allegations.

Clinton said that she also believes in "second chances".

"I was overruled", Solis Doyle said in her first public remarks since news of the harassment controversy was reported by The New York Times on Friday.

The woman accused Strider - who was providing Clinton with Bible readings each morning via email - of ongoing harassment, including inappropriately rubbing her shoulders, kissing her on the forehead and sending her suggestive emails.

BuzzFeed reported that Strider displayed similar behavior toward at least two women he supervised at Correct the Record, a political agency he joined in November 2013 to help Clinton ahead of her 2016 campaign attempt.

Kabul on high alert after ambulance bomb toll tops 100
The Taliban has been fighting an insurgency based on its aims to re-establish an Islamic emirate in Afghanistan. Trump condemned the Saturday attack, saying it "renews our resolve and that of our Afghan partners".

When asked by CNN's Poppy Harlow why she won't attend, the Florida congresswoman responded, "to go would be to honor the President and I don't think he deserves to be honored at this time, after being so hateful towards black people and then black countries, Haiti and the whole continent of Africa".

The other source said Clinton made clear that "we should explore other options" than firing Strider.

Even more puzzling to Noah were Clinton's January 26 tweets about the story, in which she claims the allegations against Strider were "taken seriously and addressed".

Strider said that in his personal experience, he found Clinton's faith in Jesus Christ to be genuine. "A decade from now, that decision may not look as tough as it feels today", she wrote.

Following the NY Times report, Clinton had said she was "dismayed" by the sexual harassment accusations and that the situation had been "taken seriously and addressed" when he worked for her. When matters arose, they were reviewed in accordance with these policies, and appropriate action was taken. "This complaint was no exception".

Trevor Noah is one of several celebrities who couldn't resist taking a shot at Trump during the Grammys on Sunday night, but his take on Hillary Clinton's cameo was surprising.

One could argue that this was well before Harvey Weinstein and the #MeToo movement, a time before people understood the breadth and the insidious nature of workplace sexual harassment - an argument that Clinton appears to be making. "The young woman needed to be able to thrive and feel safe", she wrote.

Bill Clinton, after repeatedly lying about his sexual relationship with White House intern Monica Lewinsky, was forced to admit it after evidence, the infamous blue dress, was presented. Kathleen Willey accused him of groping her in 1993 in the Oval Office, where she was a volunteer aide.

"I've been given second chances and I have given them to others", Clinton wrote. Mr Strider was sacked previous year from his position with Correct the Record, an independent group supporting Ms Clinton's 2016 campaign, after further allegations of sexual harassment.

"When faced with a situation like this, if I think it's possible to avoid termination while still doing right by everyone involved, I am inclined in that direction", she added.
