  • Someone Left A Bunch Of Government Secrets In A Filing Cabinet And Now You Can Read Them

ASIO officers secured thousands of sensitive government cabinet documents at ABC offices in Canberra and Brisbane after they were found in a locked filing cabinet bought from a second-hand shop.

Most of the documents were classified, some "top secret" and others marked "AUSTEO" (to be seen by Australian eyes only), and were meant by law to remain secret for at least two decades.

Some of the secret cabinet files revealed that former immigration minister Scott Morrison, who now serves as Prime Minister Turnbull's treasurer, tried to limit the number of approved asylum seekers entering Australia in late 2013.

The ABC also said the documents "expose repeated security breaches of Australia's most sensitive and classified documents and a seemingly casual attitude of some of those charged with keeping the documents safe".

ABC reported that ASIO seized hundreds of the documents on Thursday, but it was not immediately clear whether all were retrieved.

Henry insisted the policy had "nothing against the African race at all". It is later claimed he said: "Sometimes they can have a bad attitude".

Australia's former Prime Minister Kevin Rudd on Thursday started legal proceedings against the country's main public broadcaster ABC over a report that claimed he was warned of "critical risks" of his government's home insulation programme before the deaths of four young installers in 2010.

According to a file among the recovered documents, the Australian Police lost 400 security documents between 2008 and 2013, of which the whereabouts of a large part remain unknown.

Another document uncovers that the Australian Federal Police lost nearly 400 security files during a five-year period that ended in 2013. We've withheld documents if there are national security reasons, if the information is already public, or to protect the privacy of public servants.

The locks were eventually opened with a drill, revealing the documents inside.

And it quickly emerged that they wanted a player to be thrown into the bargain to make up part of that valuation. Mahrez is unhappy to have missed out on a move to Pep Guardiola's side, and reportedly isn't taking it well.

Journalists of the media organisation got the documents from two heavy filing cabinets, which the furniture seller was ready to give cheaply as no one could find the keys.

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has launched an "urgent investigation" into the matter but didn't comment further.

The leaks run into "thousands of pages", revealing the inner workings of five separate governments, spanning almost a decade, ABC News said. According to the ABC report, Morrison arranged delays in security checks so that people who were close to being granted permanent protection would miss the deadline.

John Howard's National Security Committee (NSC) nearly removed the right to remain silent.

The documents revealed a myriad of secret cabinet deliberations and national security positions over several governments.
