Sony has announced that the beta for the PlayStation 4's next major system software update 5.50 has begun rolling out today, which means you should probably check your email if you previously signed up to participate in the test. The kid will get notifications, so they know how long they have to save their game before playtime is over.

Play Time Management is a new feature that allows guardians and family members to manage PS4 playtime for their child. Two new tabs have been added to your library, the name/avatar tab and the PS Plus tab where you'll be able to see specific content upon setting.

Here's what Sony had to say about the redesigned headset on the PlayStation Blog, "The headset maintains everything you loved, while featuring a new sleek design with refined over-ear cushions that make it even more comfortable for long gaming sessions".

NTP: Cell Phone Radiofrequency Energy Exposure Report Released
The study found an increased risk of cardiac schwannoma, a tumor type that typically originates from cells found in neurons. EWG has been at the forefront of public interest organizations raising concerns about cellphone use and cancer.

Once the software update goes live, you will be able to finally change your PS4 Wallpaper with an image from a USB stick, and will be able to do the same to customize a Team or tournament page. Images can be zoomed and cropped to get them looking just right. With the 5.5 update, you can insert a flash drive that has the image you want, and set it as your background from the Themes tab in Settings. Xbox One added play limits past year with the Creators Update, and the Xbox One X hardware has been able to supersample games since last November. If your subscription has lapsed, games on the system will be shown with a lock icon on top of the PS Plus logo. Some games already have supersampling as part of their PS4 Pro Enhanced features, though this new setting will bring that same experience to games that don't already include that feature.

Your username tab will show everything you've ever purchased for PS4 in one subdivision, and every game you've claimed via the PlayStation Plus Instant Game Collection in another.

While the new tabs are welcomed, the feature I'm personally most excited for is the ability to hide applications under the "Purchased" tab in the library.

'Cold war mentality': China blasts U.S. nuclear review calling Beijing a threat
Low-yield nuclear weapons, while still devastating, have a strength of less than 20 kilotons. This isn't the first time that China has used the Cold War label to denounce US policy.

Update 5.50 will include various enhancements to the Quick Menu. You'll also be able to delete old notifications to help clean up your list. We certainly hope it's soon, though, as a lot of the changes coming with the PS4 5.50 update seem as if they will change the system for the better. Music controls for Spotify, the media player and USB music player apps are all coming to the main menu. This also works when you're playing music off a USB device.

There are many PS4 themes and custom wallpapers online, including our own gallery of hundreds of video game-related images. "Please note performance will vary, as games are optimised differently to take advantage of the power of PS4 Pro". "In addition, the family manager/guardians can choose whether or not to automatically log the child out of their PS4 once their playtime is over", wrote SIEA Vice President of PlayStation Marketing Mary Yee on the Official PlayStation Blog.
