  • Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said when UPA was in power then defence ministers Pranab Mukherjee and AK Antony had on 15 occasions told Parliament that giving out such details would be against the interest of national security

The BJP on Sunday dared Congress President Rahul Gandhi to compare the achievements during UPA's 10-year rule at the Centre to that of the present NDA government.

Tearing into Modi's claims on development, Rahul advised the PM to learn from Chief Minister Siddharamaiah on how to run the Government.

"One should always compare the comparables".

In his reply to the debate on the Budget, he had also said he had with him responses from Defence Ministers of previous United Progressive Alliance governments who had not shared details of armament purchases on security concerns.

Rahul claimed that while the Modi government allotted Rs 55,000 crore for social welfare schemes across the country, the Karnataka government alone had spent half that amount (Rs 27,500 crore) for the benefit its the state's people from its resources. Rahul Gandhi shared the pictures of the documents which had publicly declared the price at which the aircrafts were purchased on the microblogging site twitter. "He is comparing the Siddaramaiah government to the Modi government, perhaps that is his style", Kumar said.

On Saturday, kick-starting the party's poll campaign in the poll-bound State at Hospete in Ballari District, Rahul Gandhi launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi for 'looking at the rear-view mirror and driving'. "But I believe People of Karnataka are smart and they know everything", said Piyush Goyal here.

You (Modi) drive the vehicle by just looking in the rear view mirror, which will cause accidents.

Union Human Resource Development Minister Prakash Javadekar charged that misplaced priorities in the agriculture sector by the Siddaramaiah government has turned Karnataka into a "mine field" killing farmers. "He remembered temples during Gujarat election in November & only now after 3 months", Goyal said.

The principal opposition party had even alleged that the company has led to an "insurmountable loss" to the public exchequer with the Rafale fighter jet deal where Dessault will provide 36 Rafale jets to the Indian Air Force.
