The NCAA selection committee revealed the top 16 teams Sunday and where they would be seeded if the tournament were to begin this week.

The last time the Vols were one of the top 16 teams in the NCAA Tournament was when they were given a No. 2 seed in the 2008 NCAA Tournament.

Virginia, No. 2 in The Associated Press poll, would play in Atlanta as the No. 1 seed in the South, a region that includes Cincinnati, Michigan State and Tennessee.

If the NCAA tournament were to be determined today, Arizona would be a No. 4 seed in the West, which is pretty consistent with how many have projected.

As things stand, the No. 1 seeds would be Virginia, Villanova, Xavier and Purdue.

The Red Raiders were projected to be a part of the East region alongside first-seed Villanova, second-seed Duke and fourth-seed Ohio State. The Wildcats earned the No. 4 seed in the West, but delving deeper into the resumes, Rhode Island looks better almost across the board.

"When the committee started our meeting on Tuesday, I think there was a general agreement on who the top three teams were, but by late Saturday night that group had grown to four", committee chairman Bruce Rasmussen said in a statement.

Arizona was selected as the 15 seed overall, with Oklahoma at 16.

Michigan State is ranked as the No. 11 overall seed, behind Clemson (No. 9) and Texas Tech (No. 10). Cincinnati, 3. Tennessee, 4.

Kansas was made a No. 2 seed in the West and Oklahoma a #4 seed in the Midwest.
