  • PYEONGCHANG Feb. 23 2018- Canada's Kevin Koe competes during bronze medal game of men's curling against Switzerland at 2018 Pyeong Chang Winter Olympic Games at Gangneung Curling Centre Gangneung

The Americans' victory over three-time defending Olympic champions Canada, which came down to the last stone, stunned the curling world.

Nearly inexplicably, the Minnesotan was ridiculed on social media over those results.

The US men's curling team captured Olympic gold for the first time in history on Saturday - and then was awarded the wrong set of medals.

Kyle Mack claimed the final medal for the Americans in the men's snowboarding big air competition, where he took silver behind Canada's Sebastian Toutant.

With the score deadlocked at 5-5, United States skip John Shuster provided some last-rock magic with a pinpoint double take-out for five that left their Swedish opponents stunned as the Gangneung Curling Centre erupted into chants of "USA, USA" led by U.S. President Donald Trump's daughter Ivanka.

Barcelona ace Suarez: Coutinho very different man and player to Liverpool days
In the second half, Coutinho netted a sensational fifth before Suarez completed the rout, tapping in from Ousmane Dembele's cross. Visiting striker Portu gave Girona a surprise lead in the third minute of their first La Liga game at the Nou Camp.

Minnesota closed out the Olympics with style, added Shuster. Shuster broke a 5-5 tie with a stunning five-point throw on his final stone of the end.

Gold medallist Czech Republic's Ester Ledecka celebrates on the podium during the victory ceremony for the women's snowboard parallel giant slalom event during the Pyeongchang 2018 Winter Olympic Games on February 24, 2018.

Against Sweden, which defeated the US 10-4 in the round-robin part of the tournament, the Americans fell behind 2-0 after two ends but responded with two in the third and a steal of one in the fourth.

Friends, relatives and total strangers turned out to greet Team Shuster after winning their historic gold medal at the Olympics in South Korea. While the team did not get their upgrades, they did get some special recognition in-flight this morning.

"It's no big deal", beamed Shuster, who was competing at his fourth Olympics and was part of the US team that took bronze in Turin in 2006.

Gaza Teenager Shot and Killed by Israeli Forces While Fishing
He warned that government workers who were employed after 2007 have only got around one and a half salary in the past five months. Israel restricts fishing to a seasonally adjusted zone of between 6 and 9 nautical miles.

"For 5 days, we were the best team in the world", teammate Tyler George said. Well, we'll see. These stories don't always have a lasting impact. The Americans won the "gold" Games in Pyeongchang, beating in the final Sweden (10:7).

And swept they did, quite literally: to get to this point, the Americans won five straight matches. Two more hours of tv watching.done!

"I was happy to get a chance to make that last one for these guys for all the shots they made throughout the course of these games". But it turned out that wasn't the case for the United States of America curling team.

Shuster won bronze as a member of Pete Fenson's team in 2006. "While there are no seats now available for upgrades, we are working with our employee teams to celebrate their gold-medal achievement ahead of departure and in flight".

"These are the guys next door", he said. "Especially when it's so many people that you've known your whole life".
