  • Cavs forward Kevin Love disclosed he is dealing with panic attacks

He wrote in an article for the "The Players Tribune" that he had a panic attack during a game back in November.

The Cavaliers forward detailed how he had his first panic attack when Cleveland faced the Atlanta Hawks in the National Basketball Association on November 5 a year ago.

Suddenly, all the things that drew me to the school triggered a feeling I'd never experienced.

"By that point, I was freaking out", Love continued.

Snow showers likely this afternoon
We'll witness the gradual transition from scattered light rain to sporadic snow showers between that period and about 9:00 P.M. Roads may be slick first thing in the morning, especially secondary roads, but they should all turn wet quickly after sunrise.

"It came out of nowhere", Love wrote in The Player's Tribune. "But I remember leaving the hospital thinking, 'Wait. then what the hell just happened?'" Partly, I want to do it for me, but mostly, I want to do it because people don't talk about mental health enough.

Cleveland Cavaliers All-Star Kevin Love has opened up about his struggles with mental health.

The hope? To promote mental health awareness and a better social environment for those impacted by the issue.

"Call it a stigma or call it fear or insecurity - you can call it a number of things - but what I was anxious about wasn't just my own inner struggles but how hard it was to talk about them", Love wrote. Sure, he said. My professor would later check on me, but to everyone that had witnessed the event ... this was the end of it. I know you don't just get rid of problems by talking about them, but I've learned that over time maybe you can better understand them and make them more manageable.

So there will be no 40-yard dash or broad jump or high jump or any of the other stuff quarterbacks are asked to do. But that day's coming, and that's why the Chargers are actively looking at players at that position.

Kevin Love has had a tense year, and on Tuesday, it seems like we've found out why. And like many people who have had them, Love didn't know what was going on at first. He hasn't played since January 30 due to a broken bone in his left hand and isn't expected back until the last week of March. In a competitive culture where mental obstacles can be perceived as weakness, and keeping problems to one's self is commonplace, it takes courage to speak.

The incident still weighed on him, though, and the thought of anyone finding out bothered him, too. "I thought it was great", he said. "I was 20 or 21 years old, and I'd grown up around basketball", he said.

Love's expose detailed everything from symptoms, a need for closure after unexpectedly losing his grandmother and the shame he battled after the panic attack. Inevitably, you'll hear I'm done just as you step into the other room. "So I'm not saying everyone should share all their deepest secrets - not everything should be public and it's every person's choice". " ... So if you're reading this and you're having a hard time, no matter how big or small it seems to you, I want to remind you that you're not weird or different for sharing what you're going through".
