According to the New York Times, which first reported the story, the Justice Department's inspector general concluded in an upcoming report that McCabe has not been forthcoming with its investigation to how the FBI handled its probe into Hillary Clinton's email server.

Former FBI deputy director Andrew McCabe, who stepped down in January after criticism from President Donald Trump, met Thursday with a U.S. Justice Department official in an effort to preserve his pension, according to a source familiar with the matter. Attorney General Jeff Sessions is reviewing that recommendation and if he approves it by Friday at 5:00pm ET, McCabe would not receive his pension benefits.

The recommendation comes amid an internal review looking into a choice McCabe made in 2016 to allow agency officials to speak with reporters about a Clinton Foundation investigation.

Firing McCabe, who has worked at the Federal Bureau of Investigation for the past 22 years, before his retirement would cause him to lose his pension.

Sony hasn't commented on the move, and it's unclear whether there's more to the lack of cross-play than what Microsoft says. Likewise, the mobile clones of Cuphead left out what fans an critics loved about Studio MDHR's PC and Xbox One game.

Trump's statements about McCabe put pressure on Sessions to fire him, and would create an appearance of impropriety even if Sessions' decision to fire McCabe were backed by a formal recommendation.

The Fox News senior judicial analyst said McCabe being denied his pension after a 22-year career would be "almost irreparable harm".

The Justice Department said no formal decision has been made on McCabe's fate.

Amid backlash, DeVos defends school choice

At the time of her campaign, McCabe had no oversight of any Clinton investigation and recused himself from investigations relating to Virginia politics. "We have no personnel announcements at this time".

In the past, the president has tried to connect the dots between McCabe and Clinton over a campaign donation his wife received from Clinton ally, former Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe.

The New York Times submitted the February 2017 story to the George Polk Awards in Journalism as part of a 12-story package. The report is expected to say that McCabe misled the inspector general when questioned about his actions.
