The fighters from the Boko Haram group, some shouting "God is greatest", drove the girls back into the northeast town of Dapchi in a line of trucks in the morning, dropped them off, then left, witnesses told Reuters.

The Secretary-General, in a statement issued in NY, called on the Federal Government to bring the abductors of the schoolgirls to justice.

He said the President's efforts to ensure that the girls were freed from captivity had yielded results, with the hope of ending insurgency in the North East.

Over 101 of 110 girls who were kidnapped from Government Girls Science and Technical College (GGSTC), Dapchi, located in Bulabulin, Yunusari Local Government area of Yobe State, have reportedly been returned.

Injured, Gunman Dead In Shooting At Great Mills High School
After the incident, buses took students to Leonardtown High School , about eight miles away, where parents could pick them up. During the shooting, an armed school resources officer reacted and exchanged shots with the shooter, Sheriff Cameron added.

This raises the question of what has been given in return for the girls' release; the Nigerian government held several Boko Haram commanders who could have been handed over as barter.

"As of now I can confirm that 91 girls and one boy have been released".

Atiku called for a more permanent solution to the problem of kidnapping of girls from schools.

The captors gave no reason for their release, and Nigeria denied that a ransom had been paid. Commentators feared the Dapchi girls had been taken for ransom, after Boko Haram received millions of euros for the release of some of the Chibok girls previous year. Many had been forced to marry their captors and had children fathered by them.

Because the company didn't question the bridge's safety, FDOT says it had no reason to believe there was a problem. Six people, including a student, a construction worker, and a father of three, died in the bridge collapse .

The minister said the sect agreed to drop the girls in the town where they were abducted. "And don't ever put your daughters in school again", the extremists said.

The release came a day after an Amnesty International report accused the Nigerian military of failing to heed several warnings of an imminent attack on February 19 during which the girls were seized.

Bashir Manzo, who heads a parents' support group in Dapchi, said: "These girls were not accompanied by any security personnel".

Many of the Nigerian schoolgirls abducted from their village a month ago have just been released back to their families.
