  • High school on lockdown after shooting in Maryland

Also last month, St. Mary's County Sheriff's office said it arrested two teenage boys for "Threats of Mass Violence" and a 39-year-old man on related charges after the teens made threats about a potential school shooting at Leonardtown High School, a high school about 10 miles from Great Mills.

Police have said the shooter, 17-year-old Austin Rollins, had some type of relationship with Willey, though police have not identified her by name.

St. Mary's County Sheriff Tim Cameron said Rollins fired a Glock 9-millimeter gun at a 14-year-old boy and a 16-year-old girl, who was later identified as Jaelynn Willey. The other students - a 16-year-old girl and a 14-year-old boy - were hospitalized, the girl with life-threatening injuries.

A school resource officer engaged the shooter after he started firing, quickly containing the situation, Cameron told reporters.

Police said they were investigating to determine if the bullet that struck the 14-year-old was sacked by the Rollins or Deputy Blaine Gaskill, who is credited with helping to stop the shooter.

A gunman is dead and two other students are injured following a Maryland high school shooting Tuesday morning.

"There was a relationship prior to this event", the sheriff said.

Further information about Rollins was not immediately available.A Facebook page under the name of "Austin Rollins" depicted a teenager who attends Great Mills High School and is interested in auto racing and kayaking.

This photo of gunman Austin Wyatt Rollins, 17, was posted to his Facebook in May 2014. Neither the victim nor the shooter were university students, the college said. But this time, it appears a school resource officer took action and stopped a potentially bigger problem. The attack killed 17 people and injured more than a dozen. "I don't want to go through it again".

Moments later, Davis re-tweeted a video of Great Mills students joining last week's national school walkout to urge stronger gun control laws following the Parkland killings, saying the Florida students' activism inspired her to spearhead the action.

Gaskill, the SRO, had SWAT training and had been assigned to Great Mills since the beginning of the school year, the Baltimore Sun reported.

In a letter Tuesday night, the principal of Great Mills wrote school will resume April 2. It wasn't clear whether he shot himself or was shot by the school resource officer who responded.

Hyundai, Kia cars probed for faulty airbags
Four of the crashes involved Hyundai Sonatas made in 2011 and the other two involved Kia Fortes made in 2012 and 2013. Jim Trainor, Hyundai spokesman, told the news organization that "it's very unusual to have that kind of collision".

One of the shooter's friends, 14-year-old Jordan Hutchinson, and his mother dropped off a condolence card at the Rollins home.

Davis' first tweet about the shooting quickly prompted tweets of encouragement from Florida students who survived a February 14 massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, where 17 students and staff were shot dead. "The notion of "it can't happen here" is no longer a notion". This weekend, students across the country plan an anti-gun violence march on the nation's capital.

Under the banner #ENOUGH, tens of thousands of U.S. high school students walked out of classrooms around the country on March 14 to protest gun violence.

Emma Gonzalez, a Parkland student who has been outspoken in calling for tighter gun laws, tweeted a message of support for Great Mills students.

After the Parkland shooting, Gov. Larry Hogan proposed spending $125 million next year to enhance security at schools in the state, including by reinforcing doors and installing panic buttons to prevent and react to shooters.

"We've got to take action", Hogan said. "Although our pain remains fresh and the facts remain unclear, today's awful events should not be an excuse to pause our conversation about school safety".
