There's a very disturbing pattern of silencing Donald Trump's accusers emerging

President Donald Trump had a relationship with a former housekeeper and fathered a child with her, a former Trump World Tower doorman claimed in a statement released Thursday afternoon.

The Associated Press reports that the Enquirer, the nation's largest tabloid, paid $30,000 to ex-doorman Dino Sajudin for exclusive rights to the rumor about Trump fathering a child with an employee at Trump World Tower, a skyscraper the president owns near the United Nations. He claimed the tabloid later chose to spike the story because it could not verify Sajudin's account, and released the ex-doorman from his contract - just after the 2016 election.

Ms. Benfatto, who was married to Mr. Sajudin for 14 years but told the Daily News she hadn't spoke to him since he threatened her in 2014, said he was constantly name-dropping and gossiping to her, but never mentioned a Trump love child.

During the 2016 presidential campaign, the Enquirer published a string of allegations against Trump's rivals, such as stories claiming Democratic rival Hillary Clinton was a bisexual "secret sex freak" and was kept alive only by a "narcotics cocktail". The website wrote that the Enquirer spent four weeks reporting the story but ultimately decided it wasn't true.

Now, get this ... he claims, "On one occasion immediately after the 2016 presidential election, Mr. Sciricco told Mr. Sajudin 'I hope Trump gets rid of you all'". He said he was acting as a Trump spokesman when he did so and denied knowing anything beforehand about the Enquirer payment to the ex-doorman.

In that time, however, he has undertaken more distant trips to Europe, Asia and the Middle East on several occassions. Pence travelled to Latin America in August 2017, visiting Argentina, Chile, Colombia and Panama.

Sajudin reportedly approached the Trump-friendly supermarket tabloid in 2015 saying he heard about the love child from staffers.

Dylan Howard, the Enquirer's top editor and an AMI executive, also explained that the story seemed very interesting in the beginning and would have sold "hundreds of thousands" of magazines, but turned out to be untrue.

"Sajudin is one fish that swam away", Howard told RadarOnline, an Enquirer sister publication, on Wednesday.

"I don't understand what they had to pay this guy for", he said. Could this be the controversial "paternal" clause that was part of the Stormy Daniels non-disclosure agreement? But if gorging ourselves on the ugly details of the president's intimate life is providing us with some sort of psychic sedation, maybe we need another way of dealing with the Trump era.

"AMI doesn't go around cutting checks for $30,000 and then not using the information", Jerry George, a reporter and senior editor with AMI until 2013, told AP.

Former Playboy Playmate Karen McDougal, who allegedly carried on an affair with Trump in 2006 around the same time as his alleged tryst with Stormy Daniels, was likewise paid $150,000 by A.M.I. for the rights to her story, which never ran, and she is now suing to break her silence.

"The behavior is so extreme and so freaky", she said. The media company later said it paid McDougal for a series of "fitness columns and magazine covers". As a general practice, however, sources agree to be paid for their tips only upon publication. The Associated Press reports that embattled Trump attorney Michael Cohen was involved in the deal with Sajudin.

Paying for a catch-and-kill story is unto itself not a crime, however whether or not these payments were made with campaign funds may be the smoking gun.

Major news outlets are running with the story after the New Yorker broke the news.

Sajudin passed the polygraph, which tested how he learned of the rumour.
