Part of the Rocky Mountains got over a foot of snow starting on Thursday and that storm system is moving across the east hitting states in the Midwest and Northern Plains. Off and on hefty snow can be expected Saturday and into Saturday night before tapering off early Sunday. Travel will be hard and in some cases not possible.

Strong northeast gales on the lake will build large waves that could splash over break-walls and beaches and potentially cause damage to infrastructure such as roads, walkways and parking lots. No significant precipitation is forecasted for the rest of the week, though some light snow is possible on Wednesday. Roads may become snow-covered and slippery.

Saturday's high will be just 0 C, with an overnight low of -4 C. Sunday's high will be -3 C, with the temperature dropping to a low of -5 C overnight. Colder air will begin to move into central Minnesota Friday afternoon and evening, changing the precipitation to snow across central and western Minnesota. Southwestern Minnesota will be under a Blizzard Warning, with whiteout conditions possible.
