The Walking Dead season 8 finale review: Rick's decision; surprise consequences

  • Negan and Rick face off in 'Walking Dead' Season 8 finale (Spoiler alert!)

Spoilers ahead don't read if you don't want to be spoiled with Fear the Walking Dead Season 4 Episode 1, titled "What's Your Story?"

As fans, we are accustomed to this world and know every character has an intriguing backstory. Instead of crushing his mortal enemy with Lucille, Negan then, as usual, proceeds into soliloquy allowing Rick time to recover.

He made a decision to lock Negan up in a cell to rot - but Rick didn't consider how his team mates may react to this. Intuitively, viewers who didn't bail on the show during its arduous, tedious war knew that eventually, somebody was going to have say, "Guys, what's our end game here?"

Avengers: Infinity War Casts Carrie Coon as Proxima Midnight
In the comics, the character is covered in a deadly toxin, thus making her quite hard to handle in hand-to-hand combat. And with less than two weeks before the movie debuts, we're still hearing about even more actors that are involved.

Negan and his Saviors have troubled Rick Grimes & Co. since the sixth season, but the bat-swinging villain was brought to his knees in Sunday's episode, "Wrath". She wanted to honor Glenn's death and make things right by killing Negan, but that's not in Rick's plan. He was always about keeping himself alive. "And anyone that can't live with that will pay the price". "So, we're gonna bide our time, wait for our moment, and then we're gonna show him". The book in Maggie's possession, "A Key to the Future", is mentioned, with our main reformed Savior telling the Hilltop leader that he intends to use it to build what they need to continue to thrive. He and Negan square off and Rick goes down. But Negan doesn't die.

Morgan decides to leave Al and John behind despite his injured leg. Things start to take a turn for the worse when walkers catch up to him-thankfully, John shows up in the nick of time to take out the walkers and save Morgan's life. So if everything on the show means something, what's the deal with the glass hanging from the tree where Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) battle it out? As Rick details in his letter to Carl, Carl's own words reminded Rick of who he was, and while facing Negan he realized it was about "restraint rather than revenge and love rather than hate", not only to not lose himself but to create a better future for all of them.

It's easy to see why The Walking Dead chose to do this: it follows the comic books, it means they can keep Negan (a character the writers are now in the thrall of) around, and means they can still have Rick as their noble leader.

Man City equal top-flight record for earliest title win
In the past five seasons no side has picked up more points at Old Trafford than West Brom , who have taken 10 over that period. Mourinho said that kind of football meant United couldn't build a rhythm and make the game hard for West Brom .

The Walking Dead is expected to return in October 2018. The Walking Dead's season finale has been building up since spring, with tension growing between communities and Negan and his Saviors. Want more news? Like BuddyTV's Walking Dead Facebook page.

The entire television year gets dominated by The Walking Dead, making for an incessant inclusion in the schedules rather than something you genuinely look forward to.

Granted in today's rating climate where decline is the norm for nearly everyone except Game of Thrones, the Season 8 finale results are a continuation of a trend that started in Season 6 for TWD, with the double killing Season 7 opener as a notable exception. (Cohan isn't signed for next season but AMC program chief David Madden last week said he expected "something positive to announce" soon.) "Rick was wrong to do what he did".

Winnie Mandela laid to rest in Soweto
In 1991, a court found Ms Madikizela-Mandela guilty of the boy's kidnapping and assault and sentenced her to six years in jail. She reminded the crowd that when her father‚ Nelson Mandela‚ was imprisoned‚ it was her mother who kept his name alive.
