  • Adelaide Oval won't host an ODI on Australia Day next year while the fate of the day-night Test remains in doubt

Cricket Australia (CA) is still hoping it can persuade India that the opening match in Adelaide should be be a day-nighter, despite the BCCI remaining publicly opposed to the pink ball innovation started by Australia in 2015.

The schedule, released by Cricket Australia today, shows Adelaide Oval will host the first Test against India, but it is still unclear whether the match will be a day-night Test or a traditional daylight hours fixture. Given that a pink ball Test match against India is becoming increasingly unlikely, Australia might host a Day-Night Test against Windies in October. If so, it would help prepare them for a pink-ball clash on Australian soil.

Manuka Oval's maiden test match will be the final worldwide match of the summer with Australia playing sixth-ranked Sri Lanka. Apart from the Test series, India will also play three ODIs and as many T20Is. Hence, the Indian cricket team have made their intentions clear of playing only with the red ball in the longest format of the sport.

"It is our preference that we play India in a day-night Test match in Adelaide, but we are still working through this detail and hope to have an answer on this in the coming weeks", said CA CEO James Sutherland, While releasing Australia's global playing schedule on Monday. South Africa were initially reluctant to play their 2016 Test under lights at Adelaide, fearing the hosts would have an unfair advantage.

Goedert to fly with Eagles
As a fourth-round pick to a quality Eagles' defense, Maddox should initially make his presence known on special teams. "I'm sure all of you have seen it", Philadelphia's executive vice president Howie Roseman told reporters.

"I think in the foreseeable future we are going to see Big Bash cricket here", Sutherland said.
