National Basketball Association won't discipline JR Smith Game 2 flagrant foul in ECF

  • J.R. Smith’s ‘dirty’ antics makes him perfect Cavaliers’ scapegoat

JR Smith will not face any further punishment for his Flagrant 1 foul on Boston's Al Horford in the final minutes of Cleveland's Game 2 collapse on Tuesday.

So following the play where Horford was shoved from beyond by Smith, Smart came running up to defend his fellow Celtic.

Smart said Smith's play was a "dirty shot".

Judge rejects Manafort attempt to dismiss criminal case
Manafort joined the Trump campaign in March 2016 and resigned that August amid news reports about his activities in Ukraine. The judge deemed that the indictment "falls squarely within that portion of the authority granted to the Special Counsel".

Marcus Smart calls it playing free, and that's how the Celtics emotions erupted last night. That's not the first time J.R. has done some dirty stuff, especially playing against us. "One of my guys was down, and I took offense to it". The Cavs may have the best player in the National Basketball Association, but the Celtics are just dominating the Cavs so far.

Horford was grateful for Smart's support, adding: "I felt like it was uncalled for, that type of play".

While Smith didn't use any verbiage like "gooning" to describe the Celtics, he said he expected the conference finals to be hard-fought. "It wasn't like I was trying to lowbridge him or something to make sure he didn't get it". However, Smart stated following Game 2 that he was feeling a bit more soreness than what he has typically dealt with his surgically-repaired right thumb, according to Chris Mannix of Yahoo Sports.

In the conference semifinals, the 32-year-old revived himself and looked like a secondary star by contributing at least 15 points in three of the Cavaliers' wins in their four-game sweep against the top-seeded Raptors, including shooting a torrid 10-of-13 from three.

And they certainly need more from Smith, whose frustration surfaced at the worst possible time when his hard foul on Horford riled up the Celtics and their rowdy crowd. Thompson got Cleveland's first basket of the night and helped to limit Horford's effectiveness on the inside early on. "I blatantly pushed him", Smith said. He went 0 for 7 from the field and failed to make a 3-pointer for the second consecutive game. "They made shots, we missed shots at the end of the day. They're gooning the game up and we've got to do the same thing".
