Scot Peterson's $8K-plus pension: It pays to be cowardly

Peterson resigned and retired February 22, a week after the massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, where he waited outside as Nikolas Cruz killed 17 people and wounded 17 others.

He added that instead of Peterson receiving that money, it should go towards scholarships for wounded students or school safety but added, "There's nothing we can do about it".

The former school resource officer criticized for his response to the Parkland school massacre is receiving more than $8,700 a month in state pension, Florida Department of Management Services spokeswoman Nina Ashley said Wednesday.

Peterson, facing outrage for what even President Donald Trump called an act of cowardice, resigned in late February, a week after the shooting that also left another 17 injured.

Did the Lightning feel they owed their goalie one, after hanging him out to dry for 10 goals in the first two games? "We checked. Both teams entered the game red-hot on the power play, and the Lightning's unsafe extra-man unit continued its terrorizing ways.

"The coward of broward, Scot Peterson is getting over $8k a month pension!" After learning of his actions, Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel opened an investigation, prompting Peterson to resign and retire rather than face termination and the possible loss of his state pension.

After the shooting, Peterson said in a statement that he heard gunshots but believed that they were coming from outside of the school and not inside the building where the shooting took place.

Peterson never entered the building.

Pollack has fired a wrongful death lawsuit against Peterson, among others who allegedly failed to prevent the gunman from committing the massacre on Valentine's Day.

He then shouted from the hilltops that Muslims and Hindus "worship a false god" before claiming that all of Islam " promote pedophilia ".

Shooting suspect Nikolas Cruz has been jailed since the shooting.

Fred Guttenberg, who lost his daughter, Jaime, tweeted that Peterson's pension "infuriates" him in "ways people can not comprehend". "How in the hell is he getting this?" he tweeted. "My daughter would still be alive if this person did his job".

In response to the Herald/Times request for a response, Scott's office said: "Because no charges have been filed, the state is required to provide his pension under Florida law but our agency will be closely monitoring the FDLE investigation for any updates".

Somehow, none of Brad Stevens' peers voted him as NBA's best coach
This Coach of the Year Award is separate from the Red Auerbach Coach of the Year Award, which is voted on by the media. So while they may believe multiple coaches are worthy, there's only one option.
