Hysteria Aside, Losing Track of Immigrant Kids Nothing New

  • Blame game President Trump said over the weekend that this policy would be ended if Democrats supported his plan for a wall at the southern border

As with much to do with the federal government, it's complicated. They also called on Trump to end family separations through the policy of prosecuting undocumented migrants.

Hoosiers gathered in front the United States Attorney's office Friday afternoon, protesting the Trump administration's practice of separating parents and their children at the border.

THE FACTS: The almost 1,500 children in question arrived at the border without their parents and were not forced from them by US authorities.

Ajamu Baraka, national organizer of the Black Alliance for Peace, told Radio Sputnik's Loud & Clear that neoliberal activists are ignoring Washington's long history of violating human rights and instead falling into mere "anti-Trumpism".

Over the past several days, a heated public debate has raged over the administration's policy towards migrant children. Immigrants who present themselves at a USA border to claim asylum-something they have every right to do under United States and global law-sometimes also have their children taken away from them.

The government doesn't know where the children are?

The article goes on to explain that children who show up alone at the border are usually turned over to the Department of Health and Human Services' refugee office, which places them with a sponsor.

The Queen Has an Unseen Pic of Harry and Meghan
Other reports say the couple could potentially be heading to Namibia , or another relaxing or exotic area in Africa . It's likely that any presents given to Meghan and Harry in the future will end up in a similar place.

Rather, the ACLU is claiming that the administration is not reuniting parents and children for long after they are initially separated.

According to a series of reports from the Washington Post, HHS officials said Tuesday that they were housing some 10,733 non-citizen children - an increase of almost 2,000 children from the end of April, just 30 days ago. In 1,475 cases, nobody picked up the phone.

This is an agent - a federal agency which placed kids, in most cases, with their own families. But even its supporters, such as chairman of the conservative House Freedom Caucus Mark Meadows, R-N.C., have said they don't believe it has the votes to pass. Often times when they call as a followup, illegal immigrants don't answer the phone.

That number is expected to jump once Trump's new "zero tolerance" policy is enacted, which would enforce criminal charges against people crossing the border illegally with few or no previous offences.

The prosecution of asylum seekers is in contravention of the 1967 Refugee Convention to which the USA is a signatory. The Intercept found 1,224 complains of sexual and physical abuse in immigration detention, mostly ICE facilities, between 2010 and September 2017, though it said the Department of Homeland Security's inspector general indicated that it had received 33,000 abuse companies in that period. "The fact is that we need to dissuade parents from bringing their children to the border".

"If you are smuggling a child, then we will prosecute you and that child will be separated from you as required by law", Sessions said at the time. "If you don't like that, then don't smuggle children over our border".

The Trump administration wants to treat all unaccompanied immigrant children like Mexican children are treated, while immigrant advocates want everyone treated like South American children.

Warriors confirm Iguodala to miss NBA Finals opener
The Cavaliers, by contrast, have been outscored, 438-437, in the third quarter. LeBron James spent Memorial Day with his kids enjoying some barbecue.

"Flores is not supposed to override a parent's choice and have their child sent to a unusual facility, ' said Lee Gelernt, deputy director of the ACLU's Immigrants" Rights Project.

Because of the "zero tolerance" policy, there are more separations happening.

During a White House conference call on Tuesday, senior adviser Stephen Miller contended the "the current immigration and border crisis" is "the exclusive product of loopholes in federal immigration law that Democrats refuse to close".

Referencing recent reports about the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) being unable to track down almost 1,500 unaccompanied alien children (UACs), and hundreds of illegal immigrant parents being separated from their children at the border, CNN asked the deep question: How could a mother so heartlessly share an image in which she is seen embracing her son?

There have been so many attacks on immigrants - even those with protected status under Barack Obama - that they have become lost in the tempest of Trump tantrums. If children do not meet that criteria, they are eligible to withdraw their applications and return to Mexico, which allows the system to process them quickly without going before a judge to make a claim for asylum.

"Juan Pina was forced to bury his 14 year-old daughter after she was strangled, raped, and murdered by an illegal immigrant".

Sessions has railed against the asylum system.
