This sharing of user data continued even after Facebook declared that it would stop sharing such data with outsiders, according to the New York Times.

Warner and a slew of other politicians have said that they're concerned about the potential for Chinese companies like Huawei and ZTE to give the Chinese government backdoor access into the data about Americans using their devices.

Archibong also said the data agreements allowed phone makers to offer Facebook features on their phones before app stores were popular.

The company has been under intense scrutiny in the past few months after it became public that British political consulting firm Cambridge Analytica had accessed private information of 87 million Facebook users.

The grant is available on a first-come first-served basis for the first 100 people who relocate on or after January 1, 2019. But maybe you need a little extra incentive to make the switch and try to convince your boss to let you work from home .

Sens. John Thune, a Republican from South Dakota, and Bill Nelson, a Democrat from Florida, sent more questions to Facebook on Tuesday, in the wake of more concerns over data from the world's largest social network.

Apple told the Times that, as of last September, it no longer had access to Facebook data that enabled users to post photos to the social network without opening the Facebook app. BlackBerry said that it used Facebook data only to give its customers access to their Facebook network and messages and that it did not collect or mine Facebook data of its customers.

It's Facebook that you should be anxious about abusing your personal data - not Amazon, Apple, Microsoft or Samsung. And Facebook's stock has since recovered to trade close to its all-time high.

Facebook still has not answered hundreds of written questions submitted from members of Congress after Zuckerberg's testimony in April, according to congressional staff. Some companies were even able to retrieve personal information from users' friends who believed they had barred any data sharing, the Times reported.

Facebook's founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg speaks at the Viva Tech start-up and technology summit in Paris, France, May 24, 2018. Furthermore, the strong partition present on BlackBerry handsets along with the comprehensive permission model and app isolation techniques we employ would prevent any unauthorized access to our user's private data.

"These contracts and partnerships are entirely consistent with Facebook's FTC consent decree", Ime Archibong, Facebook's vice president of Product Partnerships, in a statement.

While Facebook says these agreements were important and that it had tight control over these partnerships from the get-go, even company employees weren't happy allowing outside companies to access their users' data. "These partners signed agreements that prevented people's Facebook information from being used for any other goal than to recreate Facebook-like experiences."Regulators and authorities in several countries have increased scrutiny of Facebook after it failed to protect the data of some 87 million users that was shared with now-defunct political data firm Cambridge Analytica". In other words, they don't need to ask for additional consent from users just as Facebook doesn't need to.

Facebook already penned a blog post in response to the NYT article, but it is unclear how it will respond to this letter to Mark Zuckerberg. Facebook told the Times that the partnerships did not violate the consent decree. It argued that those device partners are not third parties but are, in fact, "service providers" and are, therefore, entitled to the same data access as Facebook itself.
