  • May will try to persuade Donald Trump to reverse his steel and aluminium tariffs

The imprint of French President Emmanuel Macron's thumb can be seen across the back of U.S. President Donald Trump's hand after they shook hands during a bilateral meeting at the G7 Summit in in Charlevoix, Quebec, Canada, June 8, 2018.

US President Donald Trump on Saturday described an upcoming meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in Singapore as a "mission of peace".

In another tweet, Trump said he's "looking forward to seeing" Macron and Trudeau and accused them of "charging the US massive tariffs and create non-monetary barriers".

It's not clear what kind of trade deal or update to NAFTA Trump is seeking at the G7 Summit, especially since Mexican officials are not attending.

"Canadians are polite, we're reasonable, but we also will not be pushed around".

Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan is the highest earning National Football League player, coming in at ninth with $88 million. The Forbes' 100 highest-paid athletes list is usually dominated by men, but this year, no women are included at all.

During the call in May, sources told CNN that Trudeau asked Trump how he could justify national security as a reason for placing tariffs on Canadian steel and aluminum.

Trudeau on Saturday said the U.S., Canada, Britain, France, Germany, Italy and Japan figured out "consensus language" they could all agree to.

In the run-up to the G7 summit, USA relations with the most of the remaining G7 countries have deteriorated, since Washington removed an exemption on 25 percent tariffs for steel and 10 percent for aluminum from Canada, Mexico, and the European Union, which prompted the bloc and Canada to roll out retaliatory measures.

The tensions surrounding the tariffs underscore what appears to be a growing distance between the USA and its allies over Trump's isolationist policies, including his decisions to withdraw from the Paris climate accord in 2017 and the Iran nuclear deal in May.

"Trump came late, he's leaving early and he gave no ground whatsoever", Al Jazeera's John Hendren, reporting from Quebec, said.

Conte was commenting from the G7 summit in Canada, where the leaders of Italy, France, Germany, the UK, Japan, Canada and the United States are gathered for top-level talks. "We're pretty close on the sunset division", he said. Russian Federation was kicked out in 2014 over its annexation of Crimea.

"If they retaliate, they're making a mistake", Trump declared.

Trump's statement was made just before he left: the United States president has been at odds with the G-7 countries over mounting import duties disagreements.

The visit will be Trump's first official visit to Canada as president.

Trump will meet with Macron and Trudeau face-to-face on Friday.

"We're like the piggy bank that everybody's robbing, and that ends", Trump said in a press conference Saturday. "I think within the first minute I'll know", Trump said. In a statement at the time the countries, which include the U.S., France, Canada, Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom and Japan, condemned Russia's actions as "illegal" and in "contravention of global law".
